BCDCOG and Renaissance Planning Group, the Consultant assisting with the Master Plan, recently hosted a pair of neighborhood meetings to update Neck residents on the current status of the Partnership for Prosperity work and answer questions regarding issues of interest related to the project final report and its recommendations.
On March 17, approximately 30 people attended a meeting at Burke High School and on March 18, approximately 40 people attended a meeting at the Military Magnet School.
At each meeting, a short presentation was given by the Consultant, followed by a question and answer session. Resident inquiries were similar at each meeting and questions included topics such as:
The Consultant pointed out that while the focus areas in the Master Plan include recommendations covering most of the subjects brought up by the meeting questions, they would revisit the recommendations as part of the Final Report review and editing process currently underway to make sure that the concerns of all residents have been addressed.
Hard copies of the briefing book can be obtained from the BCDCOG and digital copies are available here.

- What can the Plan do to prevent gentrification in existing residential areas, especially the historic neighborhoods in the Neck?
- How does the plan address “at risk children” and reach out to them to provide activities and education?
- What measures does the Plan propose to address noise and vibration in neighborhoods caused by freight traffic?
- Will the educational and community services elements within the Plan work within the structure of existing community schools?
- Will a trade school be included as part of the Plan recommendations?
- Does the Plan deal with opportunities to provide “aging within the community”?
- How will residents be kept informed of meetings, proposed implementation projects and overall progress and success of the Master Plan in the coming years?
